What is the American Academy of Professional Coders and why is a certificate from this organization a good choice? There are many great programs out there and many that offer a more diverse training experience than the AAPC Certificate. The challenge is that most practices and hospitals still recognize the AAPC certificate or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) designation as being the most advanced coding certificate.

There are many opportunities out there for well trained or experienced billers and coders but you have to be careful before jumping into your next billing position. Many people accept the first position offered to them without doing the proper research or evaluation. Each potential employer is going to do a complete background check and check your references but all to many times, the prospective employee does little to no research about the employer.
You always hear about what employers should look for in their next hire and how they need to create lifetime employees. There are numerous books, some of which are actually pretty good, on how to properly screen candidates.
